WHAT TO EXPECT

At The Darkroom Chicago, we offer a unique, hands-on film photography and darkroom experience. Whether you’re joining us for a creative date night, a fun outing with friends, or a solo adventure, here’s what you can expect when you attend one of our workshops:

1. Capture Your Moments

You'll start by exploring the basics of 35mm film photography. Each attendee will be provided with a film camera (or you can bring your own!) to capture moments around our location. Don't worry if you're new to film—our experienced instructors will guide you through every step, making sure you're comfortable behind the lens.

2. Develop Your Own Film

After shooting, you’ll dive into the magic of film development with guidance from our team. You’ll learn to develop your own roll of film and will have the opportunity to invert your negatives into positive images. By the end of the evening, you’ll leave with a sleeve of negatives, mounted film, and a printed image. ​​

3. An Invitation to Return

After this workshop, you’ll be one step closer to mastering film photography. For those who want to take it to the next level, you’re invited to join us again for a follow-up workshop where you can enlarge and print your developed film in our darkroom.
